Recently BLÜCHER made the decision to end its relationship with Josam Company in North America and instead provide product solutions directly to customers using the resources of our parent company Watts Water Technologies. Yes. BLÜCHER was purchased by Watts Water Technologies in June 2008.

What is BLÜCHER’s background?

BLÜCHER headquarters and manufacturing are located in Denmark. BLÜCHER was established in the 1960’s, and currently employs more than 300 people. BLÜCHER sells and distributes stainless steel drainage products worldwide to the Residential/Housing, Commercial, Industrial, and Marine market segments. BLÜCHER products have been sold in the U.S. for more than 20 years.

Who represents BLÜCHER products in N. America?

BLÜCHER N. American representation has changed, effective January 2010. BLÜCHER products are now available exclusively from Watts Water Technologies, primarily through their network of BLÜCHER representatives in both the U.S. and Canada. The BLÜCHER representatives are the same representatives selling the Watts Drainage line today.

Where are BLÜCHER stainless steel products commonly specified and used?

BLÜCHER Shower is a unique collection of drainage products for residential and commercial shower and bathroom applications. BLÜCHER Drain Commercial/Industrial products are frequently used in high sanitary or chemical drainage applications. Specifications are common in industrial manufacturing, food service processing, and medical environments. BLÜCHER Channel linear trench drain and commercial kitchen channels satisfy high volume drainage requirements. BLÜCHER Pipe is a highly durable, sanitary, and lightweight piping solution used in a wide range of commercial and industrial applications. BLÜCHER Marine drains and piping are installed on more than 900 vessels worldwide.

The BLUCHER-Josam line looks different – what’s changed?

Watts is reintroducing BLÜCHER with a simplified numbering scheme, and a consolidated product range to specifically compliment N. American engineering and construction.

Have any products been discontinued?

No. The new BLÜCHER line is consolidated for N. America, but any BLÜCHER worldwide product can still be acquired through your BLÜCHER representative.

What about custom products?

BLÜCHER has an extensive capacity to produce custom solutions. Custom items are currently manufactured in Denmark, however Watts is exploring ways to provide additional custom manufacturing support in N. America.

Will standard BLUCHER-Josam product be stocked in N. America?

Yes. BLÜCHER inventory will be located in Forest City, NC, and supported by the same customer service and distribution staff that currently supports the Watts Drainage line.

Are BLUCHER-Josam products Type 304 or Type 316L stainless steel?

BLÜCHER manufactures in both grades. Typically in N. America, BLÜCHER Shower, BLÜCHER Drain Commercial/Industrial, and BLÜCHER Channel are stocked in Type 304, while BLÜCHER Pipe is stocked in Type 316L. All BLÜCHER drainage products are pickled in an acid bath, which passivates the surface of the stainless steel, resulting in an extremely high-grade finished product.
